Welcome! I’m Taylor Ruggles and I’m happy you’re here

I grew up in Medical Lake, Washington and spent 10 years riding horses and involved in various different 4H programs in Spokane County. In 2017, I joined the Navy and spent seven years living on the East Coast. After my time in the military, I graduated from Old Dominion University in Virginia Beach, Virginia with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.S. in Women’s and Gender Studies. While attending ODU, I worked as a behavior technician with kids ages 2-13 who were diagnosed with autism. Upon graduation, my husband and I moved us, our dog, and our cat across the country and back home to Spokane, WA.

I am now enrolled as a graduate student at Gonzaga University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I worked as a Residential Counselor at a residential adolescent psychiatric facility for a year and a half before coming to counseling full time. I now specialize in seeing kids and teens who have experienced trauma and grief. I am working towards becoming an adoption-competent counselor to work with kids, teens, and adults who have been adopted or in the foster system at any point in their life.

My Approach

I believe that humans are shaped by the environment around them and the choices they make. The world is a crazy place and we must learn how to live in it while remaining true to ourselves. I want to help you discover who you are and what you need so you can move through this world a little easier.

Kids should be allowed to be kids and that’s what my office space is about. In my office, people of all ages are welcome to be themselves. I welcome you to share who you are and what you’ve experienced so we can work through it together. I will work to help you sort through your emotions of past, current, and even future events.

Lets talk about it

Counseling is a partnership and all partnerships need a good foundation. We will build a therapeutic relationship together where you can feel both safe and brave to share your story with me.

Lets be about it

Using experiential techniques, we will actively work towards discovery and growth. We can utilize coping skills, activism, art, books, and many more activities to keep sessions engaging. It’s all about you and what you need!
